As a founding partner of the innovation platform STARTUP AUTOBAHN, we want to mediate between startups and large corporations bringing together specific tech know-how with comprehensive automotive competence. We have already taken advantage of the open innovation approach and are determined to actively work on further open innovation projects. Our success is based on the technical impulse of the departments, their knowledge about external market activities and extends to real series implementations from cooperation with startups! Therefore, we are constantly looking for innovative startups to combine the best of both worlds to shape the future of mobility and production.
Direct communication channels between businesses and drivers, as well as related digital business models are valuable add-ons to contribute to an enhanced in-car experience for vehicle drivers. In-car screens that include interactive platforms have the potential to improve the user-experience of in-car infotainment and navigation systems. By introducing services such as enriched details about business offers or special tailored details for Mercedes-Benz’s customer base, they could also contribute to a unique driver experience.

For decades vehicle acoustic insulation was all about weight and thickness of raw materials used. The transmission loss is directly linked to the mass per unit area: the heavier the better. Lightweight solutions were always linked to a loss in acoustic performance. Until now, no solution was available for this. It became even more of an issue with the transformation to electric mobility and the increasing demand for lightweight vehicles. . Electric vehicles offer the benefit of a quiet ride. This in turn increases the demand for even better acoustic insulation due to the lack of masking sound levels from the combustion engine.

As electrical complexity is growing, so does the risk that it will affect product quality. During the ramp-up phase and the shift to production, employees need to run diagnostic tests to determine potential interruption areas. Today, researchers rely often on extensive PDF documentation for wiring paths to understand the networking of a vehicle. With countless equipment variants and up to 1000 electrical contacts per wiring harness per vehicle, one interruption in a single connection can cause various error entries in different ECUs. Searching manually for all the relevant information in the circuit diagram and linking it with results from other systems is a huge effort.
