Since Arkite is specialized in operator guidance using augmented reality projections, Schaeffler decided to start collaborating with Arkite.

The products of automotive companies such as Bosch are highly regulated. Regulatory requirements must be constantly tracked, updated, interpreted and translated into en- gineering requirements. The human effort is disproportionately high: scanning official websites, finding the right documents, filtering out irrelevant content and reassembling fragmented information. The challenge was to simplify the above-mentioned regulatory process and eliminate many burdensome, time-consuming and error-prone manual steps to achieve a complete & consistent regulatory data.

The state of the art in battery management systems is based on heuristic algorithms or equivalent circuit models. While adequate, they cannot predict actual power limitations due to electrochemical constraints such as plating and aging phenomena. The actual causes of aging are the electrochemical and mechanical processes occurring within the cell: the cell’s terminal voltage is a poor but measurable indicator of the state of these processes. As a result, the state of health of a battery pack is inaccurately known.

The temperature at which power electronic systems operate is one the most important parameters for system reliability, especially for automotive applications. In today’s systems, the temperature of the power stage is measured by an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) resistance which has limited accuracy and very slow dynamic response compared to the actual junction temperature swing inside the power devices. This lack of accuracy and responsiveness severely limits the ability to estimate die temperatures.

As electrical complexity is growing, so does the risk that it will affect product quality. During the ramp-up phase and the shift to production, employees need to run diagnostic tests to determine potential interruption areas. Today, researchers rely often on extensive PDF documentation for wiring paths to understand the networking of a vehicle. With countless equipment variants and up to 1000 electrical contacts per wiring harness per vehicle, one interruption in a single connection can cause various error entries in different ECUs. Searching manually for all the relevant information in the circuit diagram and linking it with results from other systems is a huge effort.
